World Rose Day – Welfare of Cancer Patients
World Rose Day is observed on every year September 22 to support cancer patients and make them aware so that they can face the disease with strong willpower and spirit. The awareness programs on this Rose day also make people aware of the importance of being cautious about cancer.
History Of World Rose Day
World Rose Day is observed in the memory of 12-year-old Melinda Rose from Canada, who was diagnosed with Askin’s Tumour, a rare form of Blood Cancer. Doctors predicted that she will not survive more than a couple of weeks, but she lived six months more. Within that period, she made each day meaningful, touched the lives of those around her in a positive, unforgettable way. She would write e-mails, poems, and letters and ensured that she brought joy in people’s lives. World Rose Day is dedicated to her and many cancer patients like her who fight the disease.
What Is Cancer
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells anywhere in a body. Cancer develops when the body’s normal control mechanism stops working. Old cells do not die and instead grow out of control, forming new, abnormal cells. These extra cells may form a mass of tissue, called a tumor. Some cancers, such as leukemia, do not form tumors. Treatment options depend on the type of cancer, its stage if cancer has spread, and your general health. The goal of treatment is to kill as many cancerous cells while reducing damage to normal cells nearby.
The Most Common Forms Of Cancer
Cancer may occur anywhere in the body. In women, breast cancer is one of the most common. In men, it’s prostate cancer. Lung cancer and colorectal cancer affect both men and women in high numbers.
