NBCUniversal is also fighting with Roku on similar grounds, so Peacock isn\u2019t available on that platform yet either.<\/p>\n<p>The good news for Fire TV users is that a workaround exists, and it\u2019s the same one that allows HBO Max to run on Fire TV devices today: Just sideload the Android TV version of the Peacock app on your Fire TV device instead. The setup\u2019s a bit of a hassle, but the app itself works just fine.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to get Peacock up and running on your Fire TV Stick, Fire TV streaming box, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV Edition television.<\/p>\n<h2>Turn on Fire TV sideloading<\/h2>\n<aside class=\"emo emo-sb\">\n<h6 class=\"nav-title\">Mentioned in this article<\/h6>\n<\/aside>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t already enabled \u201csideloading\u201d on Fire TV\u2014that is, the ability to install apps from outside Amazon\u2019s official Appstore\u2014you\u2019ll need to do that first.<\/p>\n<p>Start by installing the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/AFTVnews-com-Downloader\/dp\/B01N0BP507\" rel=\"nofollow\">install it remotely through your web browser<\/a>\u00a0or just search for \u201cDownloader\u201d with your Alexa remote on the Fire TV itself.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve installed it, head to Settings, scroll over to \u201cMy Fire TV,\u201d then select \u201cDeveloper Options.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"large \"><a class=\"zoom\" href=\"https:\/\/images.idgesg.net\/images\/article\/2020\/06\/myfiretv-100847793-orig.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img border=\"0\" alt=\"myfiretv\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" data-imageid=\"100847793\" data-license=\"IDG\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.idgesg.net\/images\/article\/2020\/06\/myfiretv-100847793-large.jpg\" class=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/a> <small class=\"credit\">Jared Newman \/ IDG<\/small><\/figure>\n<p>In this menu, turn on both \u201cADB Debugging\u201d and \u201cApps from Unknown Sources.\u201d When you see the scary warning about the security risks of unapproved apps, just hit \u201cTurn On.\u201d You can always disable \u201cApps from Unknown Sources\u201d after you\u2019ve installed Peacock.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 smartphone tablet desktop\" id=\"\"\/>\n<figure class=\"large \"><a class=\"zoom\" href=\"https:\/\/images.idgesg.net\/images\/article\/2020\/06\/firetvdev-100847794-orig.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img border=\"0\" alt=\"firetvdev\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" data-imageid=\"100847794\" data-license=\"IDG\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.idgesg.net\/images\/article\/2020\/06\/firetvdev-100847794-large.jpg\" class=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/a> <small class=\"credit\">Jared Newman \/ IDG<\/small><\/figure>\n<p>For some newer Fire TV devices, you might see an option for \u201cInstall unknown apps\u201d instead of \u201cApps from Unknown Sources.\u201d If so, click on this option, then set Downloader to \u201cOn\u201d in the next menu.<\/p>\n<h2>Download and install the Peacock app<\/h2>\n<p>For the next step, we\u2019re going to install the app from a third-party site called APKMirror. The actual APK installation file is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apkmirror.com\/apk\/peacock-tv-llc\/peacock-tv-android-tv\/peacock-tv-android-tv-1-0-4-peacocktvgoogle-release\/peacock-tv-android-tv-1-0-4-peacocktvgoogle-android-apk-download\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>\u00a0for reference, but we\u2019ll just use a short link in the Downloader app to install it directly.<\/p>\n<p>Open up the Downloader app, and click \u201cAllow\u201d when prompted. That\u2019s because you entered the address in the \u201cHome\u201d section of Downloader, rather than the \u201cBrowser\u201d section. Depending on your Fire TV device, it will either be a full-screen prompt or a pop-up like the one pictured below. If you have an Android device, I suggest creating an account on that device first, as you\u2019ll be <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2020\/07\/15\/peacock-tv-android-chromcast\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">eligible for three free months<\/a> of Peacock\u2019s Premium service due to a deal between NBCUniversal and Google. You should get an offer by email shortly after signing up. (It\u2019s possible that you\u2019ll also get the offer by signing up through Fire TV, since this is technically the Android TV version of the app, but I haven\u2019t confirmed this.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important last step:<\/strong> At the moment, the Peacock app will fail to play any video until you restart your Fire TV.
